I asked someone who is close to me, what his favorite image of his hometown is and he said,”The sandbar at College Creek. When I was in high school we hung out there from spring to late fall. It is filled with so many, many good memories and a few that are very sad. It is a place where I grew up.”

It is a beautiful, inviting place, just off the Colonial Parkway as one heads from Williamsburg to Jamestown. It attracts people due to its seeming serene calmness, openness, and view; but be careful wading and swimming here. The signs are posted and are to be taken seriously. The current can be overwhelmingly strong from the creek as the tide flows toward the Chesapeake Bay.
